Annual Meeting (March 11-12)
Agenda
We start on Monday (March 11) at 12:00 and will finish on Tuesday (March 12) at around 12:30. You can find the complete agenda here.
Venue
The meeting takes place at Evonik Headquarter in Essen (Rellinghauser Str. 1-11, 45128 Essen, directions) which is located directly at Essen main station.
Hotel
For PIs we recommend the Intercity Hotel Essen (https://www.intercityhotel.com/hotels/alle-hotels/deutschland/essen/intercityhotel-essen) located also near the main station. Rooms are available for 129 €/night single room including breakfast. You can book the rooms by yourself. Of course you can also book at other hotels. There are lots of different hotels located near Essen main station.
For PhD students we have reserved a room contingent at B&B Hotel Essen (https://www.hotel-bb.com/de/hotel/essen) located in the city center and walking distance to UDE campus Essen. Following all PhD students can stay in the same hotel for Annual Meeting and Spring School (see below). Rooms are available for 79 €/night single room including breakfast for March 11-15, 2024. Please send an e-mail to essen@hotelbb.com with the following information: name, private address, credit card information, period of stay. Rooms cannot be cancelled after February 12, 2024.
Project Presentation
Each PI should give one presentation (5 minutes + 5 minutes discussion each). Please use the attached PowerPoint template you can find here. Please send us the presentations to tobias.teckentrup@uni-due.de by Wednesday (March 6) because it is not possible to use your own laptop for presenting.
Reimbursement of Travel Costs
Please book and pay everything yourself. After the event, we will reimburse all travel costs for one PI and one PhD student per DFG reference (“Geschäftszeichen”). Please use the form you can find here.
Meeting Program Committee and Industrial Advisory Board
The joint meeting of the program committee and the industrial advisory board already starts at 10:45 on March 11. Please note this for your travel planning.
Transfer Projects from SPP 2122
At March 12 11:30-12:30 we will have a special session on transfer projects with Kathrin Spenna from DFG. This session is only for PIs who pre-submitted a letter of interest in transfer projects. This session is not intended to provide general information, but to answer your specific questions about transfer projects. Please send us your question (if not already done) to tobias.teckentrup@uni-due.de by February 25.
Spring School (March 12-14)
Agenda
We start on Tuesday (March 12) at 13:00 directly after the Annual Meeting and will finish on Thursday (March 14) after lunch. You can find the preliminary agenda here.
Venue and Accommodation
The Spring School takes place at rooms S06 S00 B32 and S06 S00 B41 at UDE campus Essen. For information regarding hotel please refer above. It is strongly recommended that all PhD students stay in the B&B Hotel Essen for the whole period March 11-14, 2024.
Poster
Each PhD student should prepare one DIN A0 poster regarding his/her work in the SPP 2122 and bring it to the Spring School. Of course, some parts of the poster can be similar for the same project. Please refer to the guideline for an effective poster.
